Introduction

In Indonesia, oil and gas EP activities have been carried out for more than 100 years and have produced a considerable amount of data, a valuable national asset. This data, available in various media and formats, can be found in the Directorate General of Oil & Gas (Migas), Pertamina, Production Sharing Contractors (PSCs), and some are even privately owned by individuals. To accumulate all oil and gas EP information and data, Indonesia have developed the Indonesian Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Metadatabase (INAMETA). INAMETA covers data and metadata complying with government (Migas) regulations and essential to the oil and gas industry. It provides all necessary information easily and quickly to geoscientists (data users), data processors, as well as potential investors.

Integrated Oil & Gas Data Management

Using the Epicenter Data Model (POSC) base integrated with the GIS concept, a correlation between spatial and non-spatial data is attained. Also considering completeness of coverage, confidentiality, and metadata standard, INAMETA has become a reliable, comprehensive, and user-friendly application system for processing and presentinginformation and metadata used in oil and gas EP activities.

At present, INAMETA is the only application system with the most complete information coverage on oil and gasExploration and production activities in Indonesia.

The information comprises :

  •  Working areas and the most recent contracts, including 60 new Pertamina split areas
  •  60 basins
  • Over 800 fields and 25,000 wells
  • Not less than 40,000 seismic lines
  • Around 45,000 technical reports covering details such as the geology, geophysics, geochemistry, bio-stratigraphy, reserves, and prospects
  • Oil and gas pipelines
  • Oil and gas activity supporting information including country, province and district boundaries, cities, airports, main roads, rain forests, shorelines, and bathymetry

The information is continually updated with the most recent data acquired from the most accurate data sources (Migas, Pertamina, PSCs, Bakosurtanal and other related sources). The various features offered by INAMETA are a blend of superior real database concept and quality of the implemented spatial and non-spatial data. Some features are the presentation of the data in GIS or Non-GIS Modus (query based) and in the form of interactive reports that can be printed in various file formats, making the data possible to be used for various purposes.

Managing all data related to oil & gas business gave many benefit as follow:

For oil and gas companies:

The availability of information on data that should be or is already procured and the situation, making it possible to do preparation activities, including planning storage, organizing, processing and preservation budgets.

For data users:

The availability of information and metadata on whatever can be found in the area of interest, the situation, and the type of storage media and format. Hence, data users can concentrate on their activity as geoscientists and not data searchers, being more productive in their work.

For data processors :

The availability of information on whatever data they are processing and what other supplementary data should also be available, such that further data collecting and processing facilities can be planned efficiently and effectively.

For potential investors :

The availability of comprehensive information on a certain area (active or open oil working area), making it easy to plan selection of the area for hydrocarbon prospectivity evaluation and procurement of the data.

For the government of Indonesia :.

1.        The availability of information on all data needed by potential investors, such that can promote country attractiveness.

2.        INAMETA serves as a tool for the government in observing and controlling implementation of oil contracts.

Since the oil & gas data management is believed as gateway to successful investment, we do sustainable improvement to deliver best way and easier access to oil & gas experts and decision maker. Construction and architecture was seriously developed to enhance data quality & content. This leads us to INAMETA Platinum as our new branding product. It is GIS Web base and more easily accessible by every user in real time and every update of the master database can be immediately detected by the user INAMETA Platinum  was developed on the grounds that there was no similar application system in the market, and designed to meet requirements of the government, data owners, and industries using IT and state-of-the-art methodology (international petroleum industry standard), with consideration of the development trend.

In order to simplify data searching for users. It provides the faster access for the application, using:

GIS Module (Map Query)

Geographical Information System (GIS) concept basedon web and easily accessible through the Internet, INAMETA Platinum proves to be a reliable, comprehensive and user friendly application welcome in the oil business. For instance, INAMETA Platinum is accessible in a definite user time and in the case of limited data examples, allowing the prospective system purchaser to study and test its reliability, as well as giving input or requesting additional necessary features.

Text Query Module (Text Query)

If GIS module activity focuses on visualizing geographical object on surface, then query text module gives more focus on feature visualization and asset information under surface existing in database. Text query module becoming main access for all exploration and production data information.

Conclusion

We also understand that IT technology is very important to deliver knowledge, information and data access. But another important item is that the stakeholders can access the information without neglecting the rules of data management in Indonesia, that is the data of oil and gas activities belongs to Government of Indonesia.Hopefully the stakeholders can get the benefit from INAMETA Platinum as much as possible, and then they can contribute to increase exploration activities and discover much more oil and gas, much more coal bed methane and increase the National production.
